from its past, martim moniz retains the memory of a valley and a watercourse flowing toward the tagus. from disorder and chaos emerges a vibrant social stage. the proposal renaturalizes the space, opening “cuts” where nature resurfaces and connects to the city. three distinct landscapes – pine forest, poplar grove, and woodland – converge toward a central water plaza, reflecting life, culture, and memory. the design blends mediterranean and exotic vegetation, creating a dialogue with the local community. people are at the heart of the garden, moving freely and shaping its social life. jardim da mouraria celebrates the past, present, and future of its people.
